Spreading the Word

I was so pleased to receive this email this morning:

Hi Donna:

. . . I attended your session on Blogs at the Winter
Meeting. Just so you know, I have a meeting next week with our district
technology director and our building technology specialist to discuss
blogs. I am looking forward to the conversation. We have some tentative
history already with blogs which the director is going to investigate and
bring to the meeting. I am hoping to have your blogs up on the screen as
an example for us to frame and inform our conversation.

Thanks again for letting me see the possibilities...

Rick

This is from a sixth grade science teacher in Massachusetts. I'm so excited that my little corner of the Web may inspire other teachers to share their learning and reflections through blogs.

I was listening to NPR yesterday on the way to my research class and there was a discussion on blogs and their place in our highly technological world. The interview and some links to what the interviewee thought were great blogs can be found at NPR

Also, it struck me in some interesting ways how blogging became a new age and vital tool for people to dialogue about issues facing our country during the recent election and also which candidates people favored. Following every debate, NBC News showed excerpts from bloggers and the nature of online conversations. One the ideas that I like about blogging is that a posting does not have to remain static...responding is possible and public.
