Here is the text of all of the reflections
What happened the last 20 minutes?
“There was more energy at the table than at any other point in the evening. It was about creation—“constructivism”—not “playing the game.” It was collaborative, not only cooperative. It called for true shared decision making. Every person contributed. It began with an authentic question that touched every person in the group.”
“Michaelann raised the issue of the purpose of the group. Are we any more of a group?
What authentic voice are we speaking from?
As we all have time constraint issues, it was suggested that we might have our own ‘Seattle-like’ retreat where we could do deeper work and build more unity. I agree with the retreat suggestion.”
“Issues of purpose, goals, identity, how to measure success. Why are we here? What are we here for? Is there a common vision? If there is then what is it? Are we practicing our facilitation/coaching skills or do we have a deeper purpose as a group?”
“Enjoyed meeting new folk. I’m always inspired by organizations like Holocaust Museum—the protocol worked really well.
As Lauren said. . . a lot of wisdom, thoughts, questions. . .
Great question by Michaelann. . .
look forward to DISCOVERY!
This might be depth needed to congeal group long term . . .loved the idea of retreats! Intense time together.
Great Food!”
“What brings me to the meetings?
[visual of umbrella] Common Goal
I believe we are all shining stars but we have yet to become a constellation for people to recognize and admire. Beliefs Values Goals”
“Why do we meet? That is the question. We all sound like we are looking for a direction for this group. We also need to begin to think outside of the box and be more creative on when and how this group meets. We all have an underlying common reason for being here but what are we really doing besides meeting just to meet. A group grant on our work becoming ‘meaningful, measurable and motivational’ would be great and I wouldn’t mind being on the grant writing team.”
“I come to this meeting because I want opportunities to facilitate and I want to learn more protocols. Everyone is so smart—It’s cool even if it’s after work.
My goal is to learn to become a better teacher of facilitation to the Master Reading Teachers, Lead Teachers, and Content Specialists—all of whom have a job similar to mine—working with teachers. We want to become better collaborators and facilitators.”
“-Authentic voice
-Meeting authentic need
-authentic vision, mission, values
-discovery * creation
-What do we want to accomplish?
-Who do we hope to influence?
-Impact?”
“Capture what happened last 20 minutes
-We will spend 1/2 of our meeting for the next several meetings developing a ‘purpose’ for our group.
-We will still look @ dilemmas and will organically designate facilitators.
-We will ultimately determine how we will be able to ‘know’ we have improved.”
“What I would like to see is that Donna and I step into the support (logistics) role and that the group “step up” into self-facilitation. I see this as a way to go much deeper.”
“What authentic voice are we speaking from?
What is the authentic need for this group?
What am I giving up my personal time for?
What brings me here?
Discovery not a creation
Who is the next generation?
personal group personal group
Vision Mission Values
Grant for retreat”
