Next we engaged in a Table Top Chalk Talk around these questions:
What do you hope to get from this group?
What do you hope to learn/improve about your facilitation?
What do you hope to learn/improve about your coaching?
Click on the thumbnails to examine our Chalk Talk. Dizziness alert! some of the writing is upside down since we worked on round tabletops.

Reflections for 11/15
What did I learn?
"I enjoyed the new protocol. It moved quickly and was more conversational. I specifically learned key characteristics of group dynamics that will help me in my goal of reading my audience."
"Many people are in a similar place in terms of goals for the group and for themselves."
"I learned more about what I want from this group, what I might get, and –hooray!--that others want a lot of the same things."
"I liked the more intimate aspect of Table Top Chalk Talk, so I learned that modifying protocols for situational needs may result in pleasant outcomes."
"Refresh renew group dynamics decision making--
The text helped me refocus on the fundamentals so that my awareness is focused on the group."
"Experienced coaches/facilitators still struggle, still face dilemmas, still search, still want to get better at what they do"
"Loved touching base with people again and working with new people.
learned-I have a question about whether you can ever really facilitate a group in which you have a stake."
"What did you learn? that my dilemma with my group dynamics is very similar to others' dilemmas with their groups."
"I learned that 'reading' the group and paying attention to dynamics may be a key we need to focus on in New Coach training."
What do I need
"More practice, more learning, more experiences like this to keep me grounded in the work in order to make it a lifestyle, and not just an escape from the daily grind.
I also need more teambuilders to learn about the new folks in the group. I need connection."
"Honestly, I am very overwhelmed by all the changes I am going through in my life. I feel like this is a great place to be with people who have similar commitments. I guess I just need support and affirmation,=>hope that education can be better!"
"I need more of the same--this evening was very comfortable for me--as well as comforting & supportive. I'm getting to know people more and that will help me open up so I can really learn without feeling 'on'."
"At this time I can't think of any needs."
"I make sure I push myself out of my comfort zone take risks with new situations."
"More strategies, choices?"
"moral support of my facil/coaching skills to work in new/diff. environment."
"NEED? a team to help w/ planning for future meetings."
What is my next step?
"Keep reading, learning and applying all we do to my situation."
"I don't know. . . I hope it includes using the skills $ knowledge gained here."
"My next step is to carve out some reflection time and think about two groups I'm currently working with and how I could apply the new learning to them."
"Review the new Fieldbook w/ a mind towards protocol application."
"Make informal observations of group I am involved with accordg to group dynamics
Evaluate my role as facilitator and not leader with groups I am involved with."
"???"
"re-energize my work"
"Continued collaboration with my critical friends."
"look for additional texts--check with A+ staff & others to see who will commit"
Other Comments
"This meeting was good--the snacks were appropriate. I liked the Chalk Talk and the Text-Rendering was good with the added 'implications' to the protocol.
I thought tonight was a good size and mix."
"Three levels of text protocol Great!!
I have never used this type of protocol.
I was able to share and connect to new ideas. I have used the task progress in our PLC meeting and found the advantages but the group shared with me the disadvantages that could occur.
Next step: Will look at the task progress closer. Great meeting."
